The National 4-H Youth Development Center was established in Belize in 1958 as part of the 4-H Movement. Dedicated to youth development, particularly in agriculture and life skills, the center served as a cornerstone for nurturing leaders and members over the decades.
In 2021, as part of the amalgamation of youth institutions in Belize, the center underwent a significant transformation, evolving into the Western Region Youth Training Institute (WRYTI). With this transition, the institute expanded its scope while retaining its commitment to fostering the growth and development of Belizean youth.
Operating as an Institute within the Department of Youth Services under the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, the institution remained steadfast in its mission to nurture Belizean youth. Now under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Transport, specifically within the Department of Youth Services, WRYTI continues to provide opportunities for unattached youths to learn and grow through agricultural education.
Unattached youths enrolling in the institution are offered opportunities to acquire agricultural expertise and delve into subjects such as life skills, entrepreneurship, math, English, and sports. WRYTI remains dedicated to providing youths with a second chance at learning and personal growth through agricultural education.
At WRYTI, our value proposition lies in our ability to offer a second chance at learning and personal growth through agricultural education. We provide a holistic approach to education, offering courses in agriculture, life skills, entrepreneurship, math, English, and sports. Our mission is to empower youths with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in both their personal and professional lives.
